A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows Mike Huckabee closing in on Mitt Romney in the race for the affections of Iowans. Huckabee has been spending money and time in Iowa like a true fan of corn and pork since his strong showing in the Iowa straw poll last summer.
Although Romney won the straw poll with 32 percent of the votes to Huckabee’s 18 percent, the new poll has them at 28 and 24 percent, respectively. Indications are that the Huck’s chances aren’t hurt in Iowa by the fact that Giuliani and McCain aren’t really bothering with Iowa.
However, the poll was conducted before the release of Huck’s seminal commercial with Chuck Norris or his endorsement by wrestling legend Ric Flair.
