Hillary Presidency To Be Madcap Gender-Bending Comedy
When America enters its 28th consecutive year of Bush-Clinton rule in January of 2009, we will all enjoy a two-term televised sitcom starring the stern Mrs. President and her fun-loving former president husband. But what will Mr. President/First Lady/Glen or Glenda actually do in the White House this time? The answer, as always, can be found in a 44-year-old Fred MacMurray comedy:
Decades ago, Hollywood was already having fun with the idea of a man cast in this role. In the 1964 comedy "Kisses for My President," Polly Bergen played the nation's first woman chief executive. In the movie's promo posters, Fred MacMurray, who played Bergen's husband, poses glumly beside her in the Oval Office, an enormous flowered hat atop his head.
