guest08.jpgThe Iraq compromise is dead in the water, but more interesting is this:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, announced that “as a matter of fairness,” all 49 GOP senators will oppose a procedural vote Monday to move ahead with a compromise bipartisan measure crafted by Sens. Carl Levin, D-Michigan, and John Warner, R-Virginia. That would defeat the motion, which requires 60 votes to pass under Senate rules.

This means Senator John Warner will be filibustering his own bill. Is this a first in Senate history? If other Senators started doing this, we’d get over our instinctual contempt for them all.
